SafeWork SA Event

SafeWork SA, EWPA and Onsite Rental Group training workshop - Oct 2018Since its establishment in 2008, SafeWork Australia has helped develop national policy and guidance for WHS and workers’ compensation. Since then, they have been running national campaigns to raise awareness about WHS in the Australian working community.

In collaboration with SafeWork SA and the Elevating Work Platforms Association of Australia (EWPA), we hosted a complimentary event entitled ‘what if I get stuck in the air? Or could I bring someone down if they were…’ which was held at our Wingfield Branch on Wednesday 3 October. The event was hosted by Jason Gaskin, Onsite Rental Group Branch Manager and EWPA member, Jacqui Quarton, SafeWork SA and Frank Hannah, accredited EWPA Yellow Card Trainer.

When asked about the importance of elevated work best practice, Jason said “with the continued growth of the powered access industry, there are now many manufacturers and machine types. General operating mechanics and emergency lowering systems can vary significantly from machine to machine. Work at height should always be properly planned, carried out in a safe manner and include the selection of the most appropriate equipment for the task to be undertaken – Destination Zero is at the heart of all Onsite activities”

Tim Starr, Onsite Rental Group National SHEQ Manager reiterated, “Onsite remains steadfast in its commitment to Excellence in Safety Health Environment and Quality (SHEQ) performance across our entire equipment range. Destination Zero is our pledge to SHEQ best practice. Many of our operations present potential SHEQ risks. Recognizing these risks are inherent in our business, and we believe the best way to meet our commitment is through a capable, committed workforce, and practices designed to enable safe and environmentally responsible operations. We accomplish this through clearly defined practices, and with a rigorously applied SHEQ Management System’ Tim added.

Work-related injury and disease cost the Australian community $61.8 billion each year. You can read more about our commitment to SHEQ Best Practice & Destination Zero Here or call 13 40 40.
