Onsite recently supplied a Bowen Basin coal mine near Emerald in central Queensland with fuel-efficient generators to power drainage operations at the site.
The underground mine is currently undergoing gas drainage, an effective method of reducing outbursts of rock, coal, and gas, a common occurrence in below-surface mines. In addition to minimising material loss, the practice is crucial to the safety of mine-site personnel.
With an annual production capacity of 4 million tonnes of coal, the mine is one of the largest coal reserves in the world. Gas Removal from the coal seam and surrounding strata will be carried out by drilling due to the mine’s high gas content.
To support gas drainage efforts at the mine, Onsite has supplied two 125kVA diesel generators and forty-seven 40kVA diesel generators, all with accompanying fuel storage tanks.
Working alongside local brand W & S Electrical Services, Onsite delivered a nimble solution to the Queensland mine’s unique power generation requirements by supplying almost 50 generators to the site.
Diesel generators account for a large proportion of the energy used to run various facets of the mining industry. The lower volatility rate of diesel compared to its alternatives makes it the safer option for use in mining. Diesel engines are more fuel-efficient and contain more energy than the equivalent volume in petrol.
Offering a wide range of premium-brand diesel generators, with units ranging from 15kva to 1,250kVA, Onsite has helped many of Australia’s largest mining companies operate more efficiently with our innovative rental equipment solutions. Our equipment has demonstrated industry-leading reliability, dependability, and availability.
