Onsite Darwin Supports Local Children’s Cancer Charity Event

Onsite’s Darwin branch is proudly supporting this year’s Great Cycle Challenge (GCC) charity event. The GCC is a national Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI) fundraising initiative held throughout the month of October.

Across Australia, people of all ages and fitness levels set themselves a personal riding goal which they work towards over the course of the month, in a bid to raise money to aid the fight against children’s cancer.

Now one of the biggest cycling events in Australia, Great Cycle Challenge inspires lots of community-organised events seeking to raise more funds and awareness about the initiative. Since starting in 2013, the Great Cycle Challenge has raised up to $16M to support research into better treatments and find a cure.

The community of Darwin is highly proactive in rallying behind the cause, with many community organisations and families coordinating small bike riding events that are open to everyone. Onsite Darwin is lending support by donating two of its Variable Message Sign (VMS) boards for use in advertising the event and raising awareness about the Great Cycle Challenge.

Onsite is committed to delivering long lasting benefits to the local communities in which we operate through active participation in community programs and sponsorship opportunities.

On Friday the 11th of October there will be a “Light your Bike – Support the Fight” riding night at the Darwin Karting Association, where attendees will be encouraged to “dress up” their bikes with lights and glow sticks when riding around the track.

The Friday night family event includes a BBQ fundraiser, friendly races, “super-fast” Go Kart demonstrations, and over $1000 in prizes and give-aways. For more information or details on how to attend Light your Bike – Support the Fight, visit the event Facebook page. Cancer is the leading cause of death from disease in children in Australia. Over 600 Australian children are diagnosed with cancer every year.
