Proactive Fleet Management – Rio Tinto Yarwun

Rio Tinto approached Onsite with concerns of rising costs of equipment hire at its world-class alumina refinery at Yarwun. Costs were rising as a result of under-utilisation, difficulty locating fleet, and lack of procurement oversight.

Onsite’s remote monitoring tool, ONTRAK™, allows Rio Tinto to manage its site equipment hires, logistics and labour requirements resulting in smarter asset utilisation and maximising labour efficiencies. ONTRAK™, gives customers real time visibility of on-hire equipment, location, and utilisation hours per day, off-hire/extension requests.

“Onsite’s remote monitoring tool, ONTRAK™, has made a significant impact on our hire equipment utilisation. It’s cut out 90% of unproductive time when looking for assets that have been “acquired” by unauthorised users.” Rio Tinto. This meant Rio Tinto could prevent unauthorised equipment usage, protect against theft and better utilise equipment.

This gave Rio Tinto the lowest cost of rental, Onsite was able to reduce core fleet on the site by close to 35%.
